ENGINEERING UPDATE – GRAIN STORAGE

Message from Keaton Friesen, Structural Engineering Manager

In previous Dealer Updates, we’ve shared progress on our new sidewall design and the implementation of our new sidewall roll forming line — and those investments are now delivering real results. Along with increased efficiency in sidewall strength, we’ve expanded our capacity to roll form heavier gauges, allowing us to support larger grain storage solutions.
CB50 Grain Storage Series (at a glance)
• 1.9+ million bushels capacity
• Roof rated for 150,000 lb peak load
• 40 psf ground snow load
• Roll-formed back-to-back “C” rafters

As a result, Chief Engineering is rolling out the new CB50 series of grain storage products. The CB50 is capable of storing 1.9+ million bushels of grain, with a roof design rated for 150,000 lb peak load and 40 psf ground snow load, utilizing roll-formed back-to-back “C” rafters.

This marks an important step forward in expanding Chief’s grain storage capabilities. Additional snow load options are already in development and will be introduced in the near future.

OPERATIONS UPDATE

Message from Mike Henderson, Operations Manager

As we move into February, the Chief Agri Operations team continues to build on a strong foundation of safety, capacity, and efficiency.
Operations at a glance
• New Sidewall Line fully in production
• Increased capacity and throughput
• Facility consolidation driving efficiency

Safety remains a top priority across our facilities and is embedded in how we approach every process, improvement, and investment. This focus supports consistent operations and helps ensure our teams can work efficiently and reliably as production demands continue to grow.

On the manufacturing side, our new Sidewall Line has been fully tested and released to production. With multiple processes running simultaneously and reduced setup time for farm bins, the line is already delivering increased capacity and throughput.

Facility consolidation efforts are also progressing well. Material Handling processes have largely been relocated, new storage racking is being installed, and teams continue cross-training across product lines. Once the welding area relocation is complete, we expect additional gains in efficiency, material flow, and communication — supporting safe, reliable production from a single facility.
